Many thanks indeed to the quote-happy Irish Procrastinator for nominating me to take part in this amusing challenge. I only hope I can live up to her recommendation – she truly is the Queen of the Quote.
The real challenge, of course, is restricting myself to just three quotes, which will hopefully pique the interest of the WordPress literary critics, and I find myself remembering Emma’s mockery of poor Miss Bates, who admits that she will “be sure to say three dull things,” during the picnic at Box Hill in Jane Austen’s Emma: “Ah! ma’am, but there may be a difficulty. Pardon me—but you will be limited as to number—only three at once.”
Sneaky gratuitous quoting accomplished, on with the challenge!
The Rulebook:
1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day).
3. Nominate three bloggers each day.
Today’s quote is taken from The Importance of being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde:
“She [Aunt Augusta] will place me next to Mary Farquhar, who always flirts with her own husband across the dinner-table. That is not very pleasant. Indeed, it is not even decent…and that sort of thing is enormously on the increase. The amount of women in London who flirt with their own husbands is perfectly scandalous. It looks so bad. It is simply washing one’s clean linen in public.”
I love this quote almost as much as I love flirting with my husband.
Today’s three nominees are:
Please don’t worry about playing if you’d rather not, and if anyone else does particularly want to join the fun, please let me know in the comments and I’ll nominate you tomorrow, otherwise I’ll just continue to pick on people at random 🙂
Thanks for the nomination! I shall be researching Jane Austen (the Queen of Quotes), again!

Mission accomplished! If VAK does not wish to participate that’s okay, but I know she knows more about poetry than I do! I am not sure about days 2 & 3 as my computer has to go into the shop tomorrow…..

I’m sure no-one will come adtervyou with a pitchfork if the “rules” aren’t followed to the letter. It’ll be very nice to see the rest of your choices whenever you find the time though.

I have them planned in my head…..hopefully the shop can fix my sticky trackpad the same day so I don’t have to leave it before the holiday weekend….

Sorry I didn’t leave a comment yesterday, I spent the morning birding and the afternoon doing tedious but necessary things. Fine quote, of course, but then aren’t all of his wonderful? Am catching up with a bit of ‘me time’ this morning – I feel a bit like Meg Ryan in ‘You’ve Got Mail’…
