Thanks to the Irish Procrastinator today is my final chance to participate in this amusing quoting challenge. I have enjoyed myself immensely!
The rules are simple:
1. Thank the person who nominates you – thank you!!
2. Post one quote per day for 3 consecutive days
3. Nominate three new bloggers each day
Today’s quote comes from The Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins. It is quite shocking that he has not been mentioned in this blog before, but better late than never:
“I sadly want a reform in the construction of children. Nature’s only idea seems to be to make them machines for the production of incessant noise.”
This is possibly the only time I have ever agreed with the odious Mr. Fairlie of The Woman in White. Perhaps if my Chou were not screeching his displeasure, from his bedroom, at my insistence that he at least attempt to have a little nap I would be less of a humbug today. His powerful little lungs, combined with the indignity of having been, this morning, aimed at and drenched during an emergency toddler visit to a ‘squat’ toilet and minutes later smeared, via the bottom of my son’s welly, with something unmentionable that had previously been digested by a dog, have made me temporarily unfit for the entertainment of juvenile banshees. Once my beautiful yellow mac has recovered from its ordeal and is drying on the line outside I may, in turn, recover my good humour!
Todays’ three nominees are:
There is no obligation to participate and no offence will be taken if you would rather not play 🙂
Your lovely yellow mac didn’t last long unscathed, 4 months… Hopefully it will be none the worse for its ordeal. I blame myself for tempting fate by mentioning squats and the Chou to you the other day. Good quote – did you know the BBC are screening The Woman in White in 5 episodes currently? First episode started while we were away so we had to watch it on catch-up, the rest is ‘taping’. A real treat. I shall have a think about some quotes once I’ve finished dealing with urgent post/washing/the taxman (ugh!) waiting for me on our return, not to mention 2,550 + photographs. The punishment for going away and having a good time 🙂

It seems fine. I washed it at twenty to be safe, on the waterproof setting. I had been told that it had started, by an elderly in-law (the one who pretends to be nice…). Glad it’s good. I may see it one day. Hope photos are going well.

I still need to read The Woman in White. The quote made me laugh though 🙂
Squat toilets are the actual devil. I don’t understand why they still exist!

Urgh they’re disgusting. I had been really smug that we hadn’t come across one on our holiday down south and then I end up having to go inside one in my own town!
